"If architecture is going to nudge, cajole, and inspire a community to challenge the status quo into making responsible changes, it will take the subversive leadership of academics and practitioners who keep reminding students of the profession's responsibilities." - Samuel Mockbee the creator of "Rural Studio" based out of Auburn University. This group of students and professors aim to improve the living conditions of rural Alabama. Their designs are influenced heavily by there choice of materials which include anything from Car windshields, rubber tires, carpeting and even road signs.
