social:protrusion
Walking into studio for the first time in 3 months we were given a Charrette project. A new dorm is being constructed on 525 Huntington Ave on Wentworth's campus by Beacon Hill Architectural Associates. We were grouped in teams of 4 ( 1 senior and 3 juniors) and instructed to design one face of the building. Once grouped we began to focus on personal experiences with campus housing. Collectively we decided to encourage the interaction between the individual, the suite, and the cityscape. By creating a serious of protrusions with exterior spaces suites could interact with each other while reflecting on the city. Common Areas within the building would feature double height glazing as to be observed from the cityscape. This social:protrusion aims to encourage interaction while providing a unique face along Huntington avenue.
